[ARCHIVED] Holiday Lighting Rebates Now Available!

LED Holiday Lights

2017 Holiday LED Lighting Rebate

Reducing your energy usage not only helps you save money on your utility bills, but also protects the environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions.  This holiday season, when you purchase energy-efficient LED holiday light strings for your home, you can do your part to reduce your carbon footprint and earn a rebate of $3 per string.

WHAT LIGHTING QUALIFIES?

Plug-in style LED mini, C7, and C9 decorative light strings.

WHY BUY LED?

LED decorative light strings use up to 75% less energy than incandescent light strings and can last up to 10 times longer, saving you money in the long run.  LED lights are also cool to the touch making them safer than incandescent holiday lights.

HOW MUCH ELECTRICITY DOES LED SAVE?

According to ENERGY STAR, the amount of electricity consumed by just one 7W incandescent C7 bulb could power 140 LEDs.  That’s enough to light two 24-foot strings.  If all decorative light strings sold in the U.S. were ENERGY STAR certified LED, energy cost savings would grow to an estimated $850 million/year and 9.9 billion pounds of annual greenhouse gas emission would be prevented, the equivalent of emissions from 940,000 vehicles.

HOW DO I EARN A REBATE?

Purchase LED holiday plug-in (not battery operated) mini, C7, or C9 light strings and install them at your home.

Submit a 2017 Holiday LED Lighting Application between November 15, 2017 and January 31, 2018.  A copy of the dated sales receipt and UPC Code and LED logo from each package must be attached (see rebate application for details).

For additional information on this rebate or for Commercial customers interested in LED holiday lighting, please contact the City of Le Sueur Electric Department at 507-593-8360.
