Do you use an external video security system or a doorbell camera at your home or business? If so, please consider registering your camera(s) with the Le Sueur Police Department.
This is a voluntary police/community partnership with homeowners, renters, and business owners intended to let our officers know where cameras are active in the city in the event a crime occurs nearby.
This program will not be used for active police surveillance and officers will not have direct access to any cameras. If a crime occurs nearby, your camera system may have captured information that could be critical in solving a crime.
Those who register may be contacted and asked if they are willing to assist if a crime occurs in the vicinity of the camera. Information provided by residents and businesses will be maintained in a secure database.
You will only be contacted by the Le Sueur Police Department in the future if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of your security camera. Police personnel, if necessary, may request a copy of any video captured by your camera, which may assist in the investigation of a crime.
Nothing contained herein will be constructed to create an agency, joint venture, partnership or other form of business association between the parties.
Any video recording provided to the Le Sueur Police Department pursuant to the Camera Mapping Program shall be subject to The Minnesota Data Practices Act.
