The Le Sueur Public LibraryWhat We Do:
We are pleased to announce the grand opening of our newly expanded Le Sueur Public Library. With twice the square footage of the old building, our beautiful new facility houses even more books, magazines, videos and recorded books than before. There is a new young adult corner with twice as many books and new teenage magazine titles. Children can curl up with Jack, a huge teddy bear, and look at one of the 300 new picture books. The new listening center allows up to five people to listen to the same CD, picture book or recorded book at the same time.
For the past 30 years, our Friends of the Library volunteer group has provided gifts of time, talent and money to support the Le Sueur Public Library. Successful fundraisers have included a monthly used book sale, basket and quilt auctions, membership dues and Book Fairs at Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Most recently, the Friends spearheaded a fund drive to raise $500,000 toward the Library Expansion Project, which has now culminated in the completion of our beautiful 7,000 sq. ft. facility.
How We Do it:
Staff & Equipment:
Our library has one professional librarian and three library assistants. We are available to assist visitors, acquaint you with the library collection, recommend a good book to read, even teach you how to use the Internet and set up a free email address for yourself. We have seven brand new, flat monitor, high-speed Internet terminals for your use which were purchased with grants from ADC Telecommunications and Qwest. There is no cost for the use of the Internet at the library!
Your free library card allows you to check out 80 magazine subscriptions, over 20,000 books, hundreds of movies on videocassette and DVD, hundreds of music CDs, and nearly 1,000 books on tape!
Educational Services:
The Le Sueur Public Library sponsors a Summer Library Program for children, which makes reading and getting into the library habit fun. Children earn prizes for reading milestones and participate in a myriad of entertaining special library programs. Children of all ages are encouraged to participate!
Other Services & Benefits:
There is a comfortable meeting room available for groups. There is no charge to use the room. Call 507-665-2662 for more information and to schedule.
