MMPA is a cooperative formed by the eight cities of Anoka, Arlington, Brownton, Chaska, Le Sueur, North St. Paul, Olivia, and Winthrop in 1992. MMPA has been administering the wholesale power supply purchase for its members since its inception, and, over the years, has been able to provide a power supply that allows its members to be very competitive in the Minnesota electric energy market. MMPA + CIP = Energy Conservation
Recently, the MMPA members have implemented several customer offers to provide the Conservation Improvement Programs (CIP) now required by the State of Minnesota. How to qualify for the Program Rebate:
The appliance must be on the current ENERGY STAR list at time of purchase to qualify for the rebate. (Ask your dealer which models are currently listed.) The appliance must be installed in a home that receives electric service from the City of Le Sueur Municipal Utility.

Electric Motor Rebates for Commercial, Industrial, and Small Business Customers
MMPA provides product rebates for purchase and installation of premium-efficient motors. Rebates are based on the horsepower (hp) rating of the motor and whether the motor is going in a new installation or replacing an existing motor:
$ 5.00 per hp - New Installations
$16.50 per hp - Replacement of Existing Unit |
Premium-efficient motors provide:
Energy Savings - Motors are designed to reduce energy use by reducing internal energy losses.
Maintenance Savings and Reliability - Improved engineering design executed with quality materials result in premium-efficient motors that generate less heat. As a result, lubricants and windings last longer.
Premium-efficient motors have the greatest potential for savings when the motor application:
- Operates at least 4,000 hours a year
- Is 10 years old or older
- Uses rewound motors
- Includes over- or undersized- motors
- Operates a critical process
Typical applications include:
- Commercial building supply and return fans
- Industrial process pumps
- Blowers
- Process fans
- Condensate pumps
- Chilled water pumps
How to qualify for the Rebate:
Rebates cover premium-efficient motors when they meet or exceed MMPA's standards* and offer the following features:
- AC polyphase induction motor
- Squirrel cage rotor design
- NEMA design B torque characteristics
- Synchronous speeds of 3600, 1800, 1200, or 900 rpm.
* Efficiency ratings are deemed from the CEE Premium Efficiency standards that apply to NEMA Design A & B.
