Role & Responsibilities

The Le Sueur City Council exercises the legislative power of the City and determines all matters of policy.  For example, the City Council approves the annual budget for the general fund and utility operations, all bills paid by the City, City licenses and permits and all contracts between the City and 3rd parties.  In addition, the Council oversees the activities of numerous boards and committees that report to the City Council.

The City Council consists of 7 elected members (6 Council Members and Mayor).  Each Council member is elected for a 4-year term.

City Council meetings are conducted the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month.  They are held in the City Hall Council Chambers and begin at 6:30pm.  Meetings are streamed live and available for viewing at any time via the City's Livestream page.  Citizens are encouraged to attend meetings and/or watch the meetings to stay informed on issues, ideas, and strategies affecting the City of Le Sueur.

Goals & Priorities

At the beginning of each year, the City Council sets long-term goals and priorities for the year.
